Potentiostat Use

What should be noticed when you use the Corrtest potentiostat?

1.      Basic environment requirement:

The potentiostat/galvanostat is an indoor-use equipment. It is forbidden to be sprayed by rainwater or other water sources.

Do not use in acid, alkaline or other corrosive environments.

2. Before the potentiostat is powered on, make sure the instrument is well grounded. The user should ensure that the power supply voltage is stable. If it’s unstable, a UPS is recommended to use. The user should also ensure that there is no high-power or instantaneous high-current electrical equipment near the potentiostat, such as high-power motors, hand drills, impact drills, air compressors, etc., to prevent strong interference.

3. When potentiostat is connected to a high-power light source for photoelectrochemical test, a spike pulse will be generated when the light source is turned on / off, causing the grid voltage to increase instantaneously. It may lead to unstable work of the potentiostat or even burn the chip. So you’re suggested to connect a UPS. You can also use a shading plate or a dark box. Before the experiment starts, first turn on the light source and then turn on the potentiostat. When experiment is finished, turn off the potentiostat first and then turn off the light source. Avoid turning on or off the light source when the potentiostat is working.

4. When your testing system is in combination with other equipment (such as water bath, magnetic stirrer, etc.), you’d better make sure that these external devices are well grounded and no electricity leakage.

5. When the potentiostat is connected to a current booster 20A/40A/100A, the current will be high during the experiment. Be careful when you do the experiment.
